Firefighters are investigating the cause of a fast moving fire that started in a garage and went on to destroy three homes in Newport overnight.
According to officials, the fire broke out in the garage of a home at
305 west 10th Street near Isabella Street around 1 a.m. Monday.
The fire quickly grew and spread to the attached home, then on to two other residential buildings, one of which was a multi-family home.
In all, the four alarm fire destroyed four structures: the garage, two homes and the multi-family building.
Firefighters from Newport, Southgate, Dayton and Covington all responded to battle the flames.
No one was injured, but the Red Cross estimates about 15 people are displaced by the damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
