Newport firefighters and LaRosa's presented a donation Monday night to the families of the two Colerain Township firefighters who died in the line of duty.
The families of Captain Robin Broxterman and Firefighter Brian Schira each received $5,000 during the Newport city commission meeting.
The Newport Firefighter's Local 45 raised the money during its annual golf outing.
When a LaRosa's golf outing was cancelled, the company also stepped in to help.
"It was an opportunity to help these families and their children," said Michael LaRosa, LaRosa's spokesperson. "It's a big world, but we're all connected in many ways and we just thought it was an opportunity to show that we care and support this tremendous cause."
The money will go to the memorial fund for Broxterman and Schira.
