Cincinnati Pops conductor Erich Kunzel is going to keep his schedule of performances, despite his battle with cancer.
Kunzel says he learned last week that he had cancer in his pancreas, liver and colon.
A colonoscopy 15 months ago showed no sign of the disease.
Kunzel is 74 and says he will start chemotherapy on Monday.
He's scheduled the treatments for Mondays so he can be well enough to conduct on the weekends.
That includes this weekend – when he will conduct three performances at Music Hall.
"First of all, I'm going to feed the brain lots of positive attitude and also feed the body,” said Kunzel.
“That's very important in developing immune systems along with chemo therapy and other medication,” said Kunzel. “You have a very positive attitude. They say that's very important to defeat this demon that I've got in there."
Kunzel says he did cancel a 10-day residency in Chicago, so he could make time to visit family in Maine this summer.
