Early Setback In Body Investigation

Fingerprints taken from a burned corpse near Silver Grove did not match any on a national database.

"Covington Police came last night and ran them through our AFIS system we didn't get a hit on anything," said Chief Keith Hill of the Campbell County Police Department.

It is hoped more information learned after an autopsy is performed on Monday.

"We're hoping when we get a closer look at the body that we'll find a tattoo or piercing anything that would match us with somebody who's been missing," said Hill.

Hill told 9News that there are other criminal justice databases that may help and his department plans to run the prints again on Monday.

Hill also says they are working on the assumption that this person was alive before Friday night.

Hill ordered extra patrols around the quiet rural area. He, however, believes that the public is not in any danger.

"This is an isolated incident. This was a crime against a single individual," Hill said.

Stay with 9News and wcpo.com for results on Monday's autopsy.

If anyone has information about the case or is missing someone since Friday they are urged to call the Campbell County Police Department at 859-547-3100.
