Several dozen people are in custody after a drug roundup in Clermont County Thursday morning.

The Clermont County Sheriff's Office, along with officers from nine other law enforcement agencies served 47 people with arrest warrants. A Clermont County grand jury returned 121 counts against the suspects on Wednesday.

Clermont County Sheriff Tim Rodenberg said the investigation called "Opiate Blocker" focused on people who were involved in trafficking and abusing various opiates, including morphine, codeine, oxycontin, percocet, methadone, and heroin.

The sheriff's office says this is the largest number of people arrested after a single investigative operation in Clermont County history.

Authorities confiscated more than 301.5 grams of heroin.

"Most of the heroin appears to be of the type commonly referred to as 'Black Tar' originating from and being transported from Mexico. Black Tar is less potent and somewhat cheaper to purchase than some other forms of heroin," said a Clermont County Chief Deputy.

The sheriff's office said the operation is continuing and more indictments or criminal charges are likely.
