The 21st Annual "She Screams Without Sound" Candlelight Vigil and March took place Wednesday afternoon on the front steps of the Hamilton County Courthouse.

The event is sponsored by Women Helping Women and the YWCA of Greater Cincinnati.

"She Screams Without Sound" is held each year to remember and honor women murdered by someone they know.

This year for the first time, members lighted one candle to remember Tawyna Barnes of Springfield Township.

Her husband, Michael Barnes, is charged with hitting her with his vehicle as he backed out of their driveway in the 1800 block of Clayburn Circle back in July.

She later died from her injuries.

At past events, there have been as many as 25 candles lit for victims.

"We hope that says that the services that are here in our community are being taken advantage of by victims and survivors and they are getting out of the situation and getting the help they need before the situation becomes so dangerous," said Kendall Fisher of Women Helping Women.

The event is aimed to raised awareness and educating the community about domestic violence.
