Paying for diapers can be one of the most expensive budget items for Tri-state families.

United Way of Greater Cincinnati and local volunteers are trying to ease the cost of diaper purchases for families in need.

The agency says the average cost of diapers per month can range from $60 to $100 depending on the age of the child.

The United Way 2009 Day Of Action "Give 5 Diaper Drive" distribution is Sunday, June 21.

"Sunday volunteers will do their part to help support local families and babies in need in the rough economy," said United Way Strategic Resources manager, Mike Baker.

The volunteers will distribute the diapers Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Red Cross Warehouse and Auditorium at 10870 Kenwood Road in Blue Ash.

Volunteers from around Greater Cincinnati made donations of $5 and then shared it with five friends through Facebook, Twitter, e-mail and other online outlets to raise the funds. The Diaper Drive 5 is an online fundraising campaign that started May 5.

The diapers will be distributed to agencies including the FreestoreFoodbank, Butler County Shared Harvest, Every Child Succeeds and agencies in Dearborn and Ohio counties in Indiana.

You can continue to make contributions through the of June. Just click on the related links to learn more about Give 5 Diaper Drive.
