Demolition Derby Main Attraction At Kenton Co. Fair

Last Update: 7/22/2009 1:27 am
Hundreds of people turned out to watch a popular event at the Kenton County Fair Tuesday night.

The main attraction – the Demolition Derby.

Fans sat on a hillside to watch drivers like Rodney Holtz, of California, Ky., smash, crash and try to destroy his opponents’ cars.

He survived the first round.

9News caught up with him before the race to ask him about his strategy.

“Outlast everybody else,” said Holtz. “Maybe go out and just make enough hits to put on a show, to stay alive and not tear the car up so bad – until the feature.”

Admission to the fair is $8.  Kids 3-years-old and under are free.

The fair runs through this Saturday.
