BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio -- Local food pantries are seeing an all time high demand for Thanksgiving food.

The deadline was Friday for people in Butler County to request Thanksgiving food baskets from the 10 pantries.

Shared Harvest Food Pantry expects to know the exact number of requests county-wide on Tuesday. As of October 21, the requests had tripled from that date last year.

There are already 50 people on the waiting list who have called Butler County 211 for help after the deadline. Many families are telling people who answer the social service information line that they've never needed help before.

The requests for Christmas assistance is also expected to be significantly higher than last year.
