NAISTEWART WANTS TO CUT THE GUYS BALLS OFF FOR BEING CHARGED WITH DRUGS. THIS MAY BE BAD, BUT ITS NOT THE SICKEST THING GOING ON IN THE WORLD. WHAT IS SICK IS THE PRIESTS THAT RAPE LITTLE BOYS AND GO UNNOTICED FOR DECADES AND IS STILL FREE TO CONTINUE DOING IT AFTER THEY ARE CAUGHT. I BET YOU TURN YOUR HEAD AT THAT THOUGH BECAUSE AS LONG AS YOUR NOT BLACK YOU CAN KEEP "YOUR BOYS" EVEN WHEN USED TO RAPE KIDS

Actually genne37 is right. its no secret that gang violence is heavily tied to drug territory, and can you imagine the income from a tax on legalized marijuana?

Ms1973--You give 2 good examples of men raised in the church that went astray--however, for every 2 like them, there are many more that are in the church that are living productive lives. I remember a time when churches (baptist, methodist, apostolic, pentecostal) played a much larger role in their communities and lives of congregants. During this time, youth didn't have the problems and get in the trouble they do now. Also, during this time, parents were parents and not friends of their children (nor competing with them). Role models during this time were referred to as "my idol". This was during the time when men and women respected themselves in word, deed, dress, and conversation. A time when families set at a table, ate together, and discussed concerns; participated in activities as a unit. A time, when children were not privy to grown folk discussions. Ms1973--If role models can't come from home (parents), I believe they need to come from the church--our youth are hurting.

heres2cent...You can't blame the parents for a GROWN AZZ MAN actions....C'mon now...I know two young men that were raised faithfully in the church, but as grown men they decided to go their own way...One is in jail for life and the other one has had his share of run-ins with law as well...I know myself as a mother...I raise my children to be law-biding citizens...accountable for their actions, but once they leave the house...I hope and I pray that they take those values that I've raised them with and do the right thing......

Role Model? PARENTS ARE THE R-E-A-L Role Models! Not strangers! Parents look at yourself. Can you be a better role model than a stranger? Churches/youth ministries where are YOU? The harvest is ripe--the laborers are few. Young people are not going to come to you--YOU have to go after them. Remember works? Come out of the pulpit and off the pews. Can't you see from this article that you are desparately needed? Are you in the process of forfeiting your "crown of works"? Or does it not matter?
