Parents, students, teachers and administrators at Warren County's Little Miami School District are experiencing a different kind of anxiety as the new school year is about to begin. They are very worried about the future of education in the district.

Classes start September 8. That's when the district will begin functioning at state minimum requirements after voters twice rejected the district's request for operating funds.

Parents of elementary school students tell 9News they are sad their children are going to be missing out on experiences so many other children have. Among the cuts; art and music class. Busing for high school was also cut as well as transportation for younger students who live within two miles.

District leaders are asking voters to accept a levy in November. If it fails Little Miami will likely be put on fiscal emergency by the state of Ohio. The state would then take over its budget and more cuts would be expected.

School leaders say the only other local district they are aware was ever on fiscal emergency is Goshen. They say that was almost 30 years ago.
