Cudos to the local fire and rescue crews and the No. KY Large Animal Rescue Group. The NKLAR is a group of rescue professionals, horsemen and cattlemen who have attend special training to learn how to rescue large animals, safely for both animals and rescuers. Nice to see that the 3 days of training these folks did last year paid off in the most rewarding way - a successful rescue! Wish the TV news crews could have covered the extensive training this group took part in last Spring. Guess rescuers treading water in AJ Jolly lake with a horse in a raft wasn't as interesting without the ice! Great job NKLAR, and thanks No. KY Horse Network who helped put the training sessions together.

It is wonderful that so many people were available to rescue that sweet horse. Just saw the news story on TV and was disturbed to see that 2 people were sitting on the horse's back right after he had been through such a traumatic experience. Even though the horse seems to be ok it is a little irresponsible to climb on his back before he is even dry.

God bless and help those kind-hearted people who care enough to try and rescue that beautiful animal. I hope this scenario has a good outcome.
