"Conflict Diamonds" Seized At DHL Hub In Clinton Co.

Last Update: 5/08/2007 9:55 pm

US Customs agents say they seized nearly 1,000 small conflict diamonds during a routine inspection at the DHL hub in Wilmington.

Agents say the diamonds are worth more than $10,000 and were being sent from a company in Spain to a company in Indiana.

Agents found the diamonds after noticing they were not in a tamper-resistant container and did not have a certificate showing they originated from sources free of conflict.
