Tuesday is the sentencing day for a Clermont County couple who pleaded guilty to child endangering charges last month, in the death of their 11-day old daughter.

If the judge in the case agrees to this reduced sentence plea bargain for the couple, it's expected they'll be sentenced to 5 years in prison for the death of their baby daughter, Caroline, last December.

26 year old John Foster of Miami Township and 26 year old Samantha Smith of Goshen Township pleaded guilty to child endangering charges in August.

They could have potentially faced as much as 23 years in prison on involuntary manslaughter charges.

Smith told Police that she squeezed her daughter's stomach very hard because she was constipated. Doctors say the baby died because her bowel had become perforated.

Since prosecutors couldn't prove Smith's squeeze directly caused the baby's death, the couple is facing lesser charges at Tuesday's sentencing.

The sentencing is due to start in Clermont County Court at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, We'll have it covered for you, here online at wcpo.com and later, with stories on 9News.
