City Of Hamilton Experiencing Power Outages

Numerous businesses, restaurants, homes and county buildings in Butler County are still without power after severe storms rolled through the Tri-State.

As of Friday afternoon, no traffic lights were working in or around High Street in Hamilton.

Officials say the overnight storms are most likely the reason much of the city is without power.

"Around 9 a.m. power was lost to the downtown area. In contacting the city of Hamilton, they first indicated that there was a transmission line between their power plant and the downtown area that was broken," said Butler County Administrator Tim Williams.

Warren County Emergency Services Director Frank Young says his county is doing well so he went to Butler County Friday afternoon to help.

"I know they have a bit of power outages, the city of Hamilton, Fairfield, and some other parts of the county. A request for some generators went out, we happen to have two generators in Warren County that we could free up and bring over here to lend a hand," Young said.

Officials in Butler County say the court, coroner's office and many county offices are closed.

"Even if the power comes back on now, there will be a couple of hours before the building is able to be cooled down to a point where it's comfortable. So I don't know if we'll be able to salvage much out of today or not," Williams said Friday afternoon.
