MASON, Ohio -- In honor of Energy Awareness Month, Cintas employees at the company's Mason corporate headquarters volunteered to shut of their computers, change into work clothes – and plant perennials and a tree as part of an effort to create a new green space for the company's employees.

The new “Green Backyard,” which also contains picnic tables made of 100% recycled plastic, will be used as an outdoor eating area for employees on their lunch breaks, or for meetings.

Senior vice president of Global Supply Chain, Kevin Bein said, "Corporations have a great responsibility to not only be responsible for the partners who work for them, but also the environments and communities that they serve. And this is our way to remind our partners that we're doing just that."

Last year through its paper shredding and recycling division, Cintas saved the equivalent of 4.36 million trees, which is just one of the ways that the company is organizing itself towards environmental sustainability and the green initiative.
