CINCINNATI (AP) -- The downtown branch of the Cincinnati/HamiltonCounty Public Library has been recognized as the busiest library building in the country.

It's the fourth straight year the branch has earned the ranking from the Public Library Association, which compared nearly 1,000 public libraries across the country and based its findings on 2007 circulation.

Officials say the main branch draws more than 100,000 people a month, and circulation is on pace to reach 4.7 million by the end of the year.

Greg Edwards, the director of library services, says the downtown location makes the main branch handy for people who commute to work. But he says the busiest day of the week is Sunday when the branch is one of just two in the system that is open.

The entire Cincinnati/Hamilton County library system, including suburban branches, ranked 10th in the country with a circulation of 14.7 million.
