the police are powerless to arrest the criminals lay them off

The sheriff had to make lay offs to balance his budget resulting in a decrease in service to several municipalities. Everything is not greener on the other side of the street. This is just another example of a member of council trying to pass the buck and relinquish responsibility for protecting the citizens of Cincinnati. Council needs to step up to the plate and make some tough decisions. By the way. Police and fire account for closer to 50% not the 67% of the budget several politicians have spouted.
