A Clermont County Middle School assistant principal could find out what charges she may face after her baby girl's death last week.
Brenda Nesselroad-Slaby's 2-year-old daughter, Cecilia, died of heat stroke after being left in her mother's hot SUV for as long as seven hours on Thursday.
Administrators at the West Clermont School district headquarters said the issue is not whether Glen Este Middle School Assistant Principal Brenda Nesselroad-Slaby will face charges, but whether those charges will be felony or misdemeanor counts.
The 2-year-old girl was found inside her mother's hot car in the parking lot behind Glen Este Middle School Thursday afternoon.
The windows of the SUV were reportedly rolled up and the girl was locked inside the vehicle with outside temperatures close to or over 100 degrees.
Union Township Police said they have forwarded the results of their investigation to the Clermont County Prosecutor's office, which will decide how Nesselroad-Slaby will be charged.
Clermont County Prosecutor Don White has already said the toddler's death appears to be accidental.
The toddler becomes the 23rd child to die this year after being left in a hot locked car by parents or caregivers.
National research indicates that in 40 percent of similar cases, a child is left in a hot car accidentally, when parents or caregivers forget the child is still in a rear-facing car seat in the backseat of the car.
If charges against the assistant principal are announced Monday, they will come as Glen Este Middle School and other West Clermont schools hold their first day of classes.
It will be the second day the district has grief counselors on hand to talk with staff and students about the toddler's death.
