WILDER, Ky. -- Police are trying to determine if bad weather or a driver's medical history is to blame for an early morning crash in Campbell County.
According to police, the woman lost control and hit a guardrail on the I-275 bridge over the Licking River in Wilder around 3:20 Wednesday morning.
After striking the guardrail, the car reportedly spun around and came to a stop facing the wrong way on the interstate.
When emergency crews arrived on the scene, they found the 38-year-old driver unconscious in the vehicle. Officials say she later regained consciousness as they took her to a waiting ambulance.
The woman is now recovering at St. Elizabeth South Hospital. Her name and condition have not been released.
Despite the bad weather overnight, police suspect something else may have caused the crash. Officials say the woman has a history of seizures, and may have had a medical emergency before losing control of her car.
The official cause of the crash remains under investigation.
