The future of the Village of Amelia in Clermont County should be known by the time the sun comes up Wednesday morning.
Voters will decide whether or not to dissolve the village. A majority of "yes" votes dissolves the village. A majority of "no" votes saves it.
Those who want it to go away say it's a layer of government – and taxes – that they say they do not need.
The dissolution would essentially split the village using Main Street as a dividing line.
Those properties north of Main Street would become part of Batavia Township. Those south of it would become part of Pierce Township.
But the townships will not absorb any of Amelia's debt. Property owners will still be responsible for it.
