$750K Bond For Man Charged With Shooting Wife, Initiating Chase

The man who allegedly shot his estranged wife before leading police on a wild chase across Evanston and the Norwood Lateral earlier his week faced a judge on Friday.

Matthew Burton, 55, walked in to courtroom at the Hamilton County Justice Center still bandaged from injuries he received during the incident Wednesday night.

Judge David Stockman put Burton under a $750,000 bond for felonious assault with serious harm.

Cincinnati police say Burton shot his estranged wife, Siri Davis, as she returned from work to stay at her father's house in Evanston.

Investigators say after shooting Davis, Burton fled the scene and went the wrong way on ramps to the Norwood Lateral and I-71.

Burton's vehicle struck several others, causing considerable damage and sending at one driver to the hospital with serious injuries.

Judge Stockdale also renewed a temporary protective order against Burton.

Davis' family says she's still at University Hospital in stable condition. She is awaiting additional surgeries for her multiple gunshot wounds.

While other charges are still pending, Burton remains at the Hamilton County Justice Center. His next court date is tentatively scheduled for June 5.
