A Warren County judge set Ryan Widmer's bond at $1 million.
Widmer is accused of murdering his wife Sarah.
Both families sat together as Ryan was arraigned Thursday. Family members on both sides say they don't believe Ryan killed his wife.
Ryan Widmer called 911 Monday saying his wife drowned in a bathtub after falling asleep. He said he was downstairs watching TV and went up to check on his wife and found her in the bathtub.
Police arrested Ryan Widmer on Wednesday and charged him with murder.
Jeff Braley of the Hamilton Township Police Department said "Absolutely the cause is drowning."
"Even though the cause of death was drowning, the mechanics of that death would be a homicide. There was also traumatic injury to the victim," added Braley.
"They were married on April 19th of this year. They loved each other very much," said Widmer's attorney, Charlie Rittgers.
Ryan Widmer is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing next Thursday.
