CINCINNATI -- WCPO 9 On Your Side is pleased to announce that anchor/reporter Chris Riva will join its morning show “Good Morning Tri-State.”
Riva, an anchor/reporter at KCRA-TV in Sacramento, Calif., starts his co-anchor duties with Kathrine Nero beginning April 21. His joining the weekday morning show is a homecoming as Riva grew up in the region and worked in the news department at WCPO 9 On Your Side from 1994-1997.
Riva brings not only enthusiasm but experience to “Good Morning Tri-State,” having worked in Denver, Green Bay and Dayton, Ohio, prior to his stint in California.
“We conducted a national search for the right person, and Chris was the perfect fit for the team,” said Jeff Brogan, vice president and general manager of WCPO 9 On Your Side. “He was born and raised here and understands the significance of this in telling a community story.”
“Chris is a great journalist who will bring a lot to the 9 On Your Side team as well as to our community,” said Alex Bongiorno, news director of WCPO 9 On Your Side. “We are thrilled to have him.”
Riva was born and raised in Middletown and graduated from Wright State University in Dayton. He and his wife, Jamie, have three children.
“I’m looking forward to working with and contributing to what already is a great team,” said Riva. “Ultimately, I’m so happy to be coming home. This is where my wife and I grew up, and this is where we want our children to grow up.”
“Good Morning Tri-State” delivers breaking news, weather and traffic to the Tri-State weekday mornings from 4:30-7 a.m. In addition to Nero, Riva joins Meteorologist Larry Handley, Traffic Reporter Adam Marshall and Chopper 9 Reporter Dan Carroll.
