TURTLECREEK TWP., Ohio – An 18-year-old from Fairfield was identified Thursday night as the person killed in an accident on State Route 63 in Warren County.
Ohio State Highway Patrol investigators say Kelsie Barger, 18, of Fairfield, was driving a 2005 Hyundai eastbound no State Route 63 near the Lebanon Correctional Institution at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday when she lost control of her vehicle, traveled left of the center line and was struck head-on by a westbound vehicle.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle was identified as Jose Lugo, 51, of Lebanon. Lugo and five passengers in his vehicle were transported to Atrium Medical Center in Middletown with non life-threatening injuries, according to the OSP.
Seat belts were used by passengers in both vehicles, according to investigators.
State Route 63 was shut down between Union Road and State Route 741 for several hours while troopers investigated the crash and the wreckage was removed.
The crash remains under investigation.
