FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Warren County deputies have arrested a juvenile in connection to a shooting Thursday morning.

The shooter was a 16-year-old boy who was attempting to kill his mother's live-in boyfriend, WCPO news partner the Journal-News reported. The teen shot the sleeping man with a rifle, according to the report.

Deputies were sent to a Wilson Farms Boulevard home for a report of a shooting at 9:37 a.m., according to an announcement from the Warren County Sheriff's Office. The victim was driven to Atrium Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.

Authorities didn't identify the victim or the juvenile suspect.

The teen has been charged with attempted murder and domestic violence. In court Friday, the teen denied the charges, the Journal-News reported.

He's being held in the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center.

The incident is still under investigation. Deputies asked anyone with information to call Lt. John Faine at 513-695-1522.
