FRANKLIN, Ohio -- A country music star donated more than $1,000 to the family of a southwest Ohio woman killed in a head-on crash last month.

Courtney Trent, 20, was killed June 17 when an oncoming driver fell asleep, the Journal-News reports.

She and husband James Daley, 20, had been celebrating their one-year anniversary a day early. The couple has a 6-month-old son.

Lee Brice, Trent's favorite musician, donated $1,135 to a campaign supporting her family two days later.

"Our fans treat us so well," Brice told the Journal-News. "We love them. I felt like I was part of their family and I wanted to help -- just like I’d help my own family."

Trent's brother, Trenten Scott, had reached out to Brice on Twitter. Scott said all money will go toward his sister's funeral expenses and to help care for her infant son.

The page has raised more than $3,000 from dozens of people.
