2 jackknifed semis shut down stretch of SB Interstate 71 in Warren County

LEBANON, Ohio -- The driver of a semi-truck suffered minor injuries Sunday night when his vehicle collided with an out-of-control semi along a stretch of I-71 in Warren County.

The crash happened after 10 p.m. on southbound I-71 near Massie Township.

Officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the driver of a Kroger cargo truck lost control of the vehicle at mile marker 42, failed to regain control and then jackknifed.

The driver of an F&S Produce truck was unable to stop and ended up T-boning the vehicle, OSP officials said.

Medics took the driver of the F&S Produce truck to an area hospital for treatment. The injuries were described as non-life-threatening. The other driver was not hurt.

Crews managed to detach the semis from one another just before 1:30 a.m. The road was expected to reopen shortly after tow equipment removed the wreckage from the scene.

Morning traffic won't be affected, OSP officials said.

As of 4 a.m., the southbound lanes of the highway were still closed.
