Woman dies after being hit by Jeep in Union Township

UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A woman is dead after being hit by a vehicle while trying to cross State Route 125 late Wednesday.

The crash happened at about 8:15 p.m. near the intersection of SR-125 and 735 Ohio Pike, according to Union Township Police.

Officers said the driver of a white Jeep did not stop after hitting the woman.

The victim was later identified as 55-year-old Julie Piliaris of Union Township. She died at Anderson Mercy Hospital.

Union Township police said the driver of the Jeep later contacted police after hearing reports of the crash.

The crash is still under investigation.
