155-year-old log cabin catches fire in California, Ky.

CALIFORNIA, Ky. -- A log cabin built in 1859 caught fire early Tuesday in California, Ky.

The blaze started at about midnight at the home located in the 10000 block of Mary Ingles Highway, according to officials.

The homeowner said he smelled something electrical burning and his wife found the fire on the roof.

The owner, his wife and stepdaughter escaped the fire safely.

The fire was mostly contained to the roof and the homeowner says he plans to rebuild.


Covington Kroger closes for the night after small fire

COVINGTON, Ky. -- The Covington Kroger is closed to customers early Tuesday after a small fire.

The flames started at about 1 a.m. at the store located in the 1500 block of Madison Avenue.

Officials said the air handler caught fire inside the air conditioning system.

Fire crews extinguished the fire quickly but smoke filled the store and large ventilators are working to remove the smoke.

There are no reports of injuries.


Thieves break into several Westwood stores

CINCINNATI – At least two Westwood businesses were broken into overnight Tuesday along Harrison Avenue.

Police said thieves targeted Western Hills Honda and Diane’s Cake and Candy store. The front doors of both businesses were smashed in to allow thieves access.

Officers have not said if anything was taken. Investigators said they were searching the 3000 block of Harrison Avenue to see if any other stores were hit.
