WEST CHESTER - West Chester police investigated the scene of a suspicious package found early Sunday morning.

The package, a black plastic bag making a beeping noise, was located in at the U.S. Post Office in the 8700 block of Cincinnati-Dayton Road. The Butler County Bomb Squad was called in to assist.

The squad x-rayed the package and eventually determined it to not be a threat. Police reopened Cincinnati Dayton Road between Station Road and a nearby Holiday Inn Express, 8567 Cincinnati Dayton Road, after closing the area for about 45 minutes as a precautionary measure.

The closure affected access to Independent Free Will Baptist Church, Morning Star Baptist Church, and other locations along the road.

The package was discovered when a customer went to drop a letter off at the Post Office around 7:45 a.m.
