A woman who is accused in a crash that killed a 3-year-old is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing before a judge Wednesday morning.

Sheba Basabose faces several charges including aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated vehicular assault.

The judge is set to hear arguments on several motions during court proceedings Wednesday.

Police said in October 2012, Basabose, 35, lost control of her car in the 3000 block of McHenry Avenue, crossed over the yellow line and went on to the sidewalk before hitting a mother and her three children.

Jocelyn Austin was walking with her three sons to a babysitter’s house when Basabose lost control of her 2000 Honda Accord. The car struck a utility pole and then hit Austin and two of her sons.

The crash killed 3-year-old Rodriguez Taylor, and 1-year-old Ricardo Taylor was also injured in the crash.
