MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — An inmate at the Middletown City Jail is facing another charge after police say he attacked an inmate at the jail over a dispute about rapping.
Shawn Palmore, 22, of Middletown, was charged with felonious assault after officers said he hit his cell mate, 38-year-old Joshua Justice, multiple times.
Police said Palmore hit Justice after he was told to be quiet and “not say anything," according to the Middletown Journal. Justice told police Palmore was being loud and rapping all night, according to the report.
Palmore then said, “Man, you’re in jail too. You don’t run this place."
Palmore told police he hit Justice in the stomach and in the chin after he claims Justice used a racial slur, according to the Middletown Journal report.
Justice was later taken to Atrium Medical Center for his injuries.
Palmore was in the jail for an arrest Sept. 20, in which police say he was involved in a shooting that left two people injured.
Palmore is scheduled to appear in Middletown Municipal Court for a preliminary hearing on his new assault charge on Oct. 7.
