SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Let's face it, parents: Knowing as much about Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and all other forms of social media as well as your kids just isn't happening so far.
By now it's become widely known that not only is an outstanding grade point average and list of extracurricular activities important to your potential college candidate, but a background check of all the social entities they belong to is increasingly crucial to the college admission process.
A seminar in Sycamore Township will be held Tuesday that advises parents and students about social media etiquette, privacy and safety, proper use of social networks and the role of social media in college admissions and careers.
"A Crash Course in Social Media," is being held from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, featuring Alisa Agozzino, a former college admissions officer and current assistant professor of public relations at Ohio Northern University who specializes in social media.
