CINCINNATI -- A stretch of southbound Interstate 75 has reopened after being shut down for nearly five hours due to a jackknifed tractor trailer.

The area of I-75 just south of Ezzard Charles Drive reopened at about 12:15 a.m. Saturday after crews had worked since 7:15 p.m. Friday to remove the truck and clean up fuel that had leaked onto the roadway.

The interstate, which is in the West End area, was originally predicated to reopen between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m., according to Cincinnati District 1 police.

Police diverted traffic off the freeway at Hopple Street in an attempt to avoid traffic backups.

It's unclear if anyone was injured.

The cause of the accident was not immediately available.
