DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- A roll call memorial service is honoring some U.S. service members from western Ohio who died during conflicts from World War II to the present.
The roll call at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force on Friday near Dayton involves reading aloud the names of fallen service members from the Miami Valley region of Ohio.
Memorial service planner Monica Allen says the tribute at the museum's Memorial Park is a reminder of brave sacrifices "made by a few for so many."
The public service was set up by the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Speakers and other dignitaries participating include Col. Cassie Barlow, commander of the 88th Air Base Wing at Wright-Patterson.
