Respected broadcast sports veteran Ken Broo joins WCPO 9 On Your Side

Ken Broo will be joining the WCPO 9 On Your Side team as its newest sports anchor/reporter.

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to work with the pros at 9 On Your Side,” Broo said. “I’ve always admired them as competitors. It will be terrific working alongside the incomparable John Popovich and with former colleagues Clyde Gray and Chief Meteorologist Steve Raleigh.” 

9 On Your Side Sports Director John Popovich echoed Broo’s excitement. “My friendship with Ken goes back 40 years when we were students at Ohio University and both hoping to get into this business,” said Popovich. “But we've never had a chance to work together. I'm thrilled this is finally going to happen.”

Emmy Award-winning Broo is no stranger to Cincinnati television. He spent nearly 17 years at WLWT and six years at WKRC. Other stops in his career included four years in Washington, D.C. as sports director on WUSA and sports positions in Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Tampa-St. Petersburg. 

“Adding Ken’s knowledge and experience of Cincinnati sports to our team was a no brainer,” said WCPO 9 On Your Side Vice President and General Manager Jeff Brogan. “It’s important for us to go beyond the scores, telling memorable stories and giving depth and perspective to the great athletes and teams in the Tri-State.  Ken has a proven track record in this area.”  

A native of Belleville, N.J. and a graduate of Ohio University, Broo has made Cincinnati his home for the past 14 years, as have his two grown children who also live and work here. He enjoys playing golf and collecting old jukeboxes and records.
