Police investigate alleged rape at nursing home

CINCINNATI - Springfield Township Police are investigating the alleged rape of an 80-year-old woman.

The woman was a resident at the Burlington House on Springdale Road.

9 News checked with the Ohio Department of Health and no complaints have been filed against the facility this year. The Burlington House did have four complaints filed in 2011, but none of those complaints were for violent or criminal activity.

The nursing home staff says they discovered bruises on the woman and quickly notified her family and authorities.

The staff released this statement Tuesday: "We want to know what happened so we can take the steps to make sure this does not happen again. This incident does not reflect the level of care we provide and goes against every value that's important to us."

In Warren County another alleged rape case happened at a nursing home.

Brian Cassimer is expected to be indicted by Friday or early Monday for allegedly raping two victims while he worked at Cedarview Healthcare Center in Lebanon.

Cassimer was arrested Sept. 6 and charged with one count of gross sexual imposition for each victim. Cassimer's bond was set at $50,000.
