CINCINNATI - Police found a large amount of marijuana growing at an Avondale home Sunday.

Authorities were searching for drug activity in the 3600 block of Vine Street. Officials said a large amount of marijuana was growing in the back of a home at 3592 Vine Street.

Police said the marijuana reached more than seven feet tall.

"It's not common throughout the various communities of this city to grow marijuana in their backyard, and it is definitely not common for people to grow marijuana of this size or amount," Sgt. Chad Richer of Cincinnati Police District Four said.

Investigators say they went to the scene because neighbors were making threats at one another Sunday morning but they are not sure if weapons were involved.

SWAT was also called to the scene.

Vine Street between Forest Avenue and West Street was closed to all traffic for almost two hours while police investigated.

No other details are available at this time.
