WILMINGTON, Ohio - One person is dead after a police chase ended in a fatal accident in Clinton County Monday night.
Ohio State Highway Patrol says 26-year-old Joseph Noble, of London, Ohio, led officials on a chase in his 1997 Honda Civic on northbound SR 73, just north of New Vienna at about 7:30 p.m.
Officers from the Clinton County Sheriff's Department and Wilmington police deployed stop sticks in an effort to stop Noble, but he lost control of his vehicle and swerved left of center and crashed into a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville driven by 26-year-old Sonja Cayaditto of New Vienna.
Cayaditto, who was stopped in the southbound lanes of SR 73, then crashed into a 1998 Isuzu driven by 42-year-old James Farhay of Hillsboro.
The Clinton County Coroner's Office pronounced Noble dead at the scene. Emergency crews transported Cayaditto to Clinton Memorial Hospital where she is expected to be released later Tuesday. Farhay was not injured in the crash.
Officials discovered evidence at the scene that pointed to alcohol consumption by Noble. Speed led to Noble's death as well, officials added.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
