CINCINNATI -- A man is in custody after a chase ends in a crash into a home near a Westside school.

Police were called to the area near Glenway and Grand avenues in response to a report of a person asleep behind the wheel on Monday morning.

Officers said they were investigating the possibility the driver was intoxicated but the driver took off before they could make contact.

After a brief chase, the driver crashed into a home near the intersection of Glenway and McPherson avenues. He took off on foot after the crash.

One of the responding officers said he saw the man had a gun.

During the incident, police diverted school buses from St. Lawrence School for safety reasons.

A K-9 unit was dispatched and eventually located the man underneath a vehicle.

Officer said the K-9 bit the man during his arrest.

Police said the man was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators said they recovered a gun and drugs while they searched the route the chase took.
