CINCINNATI - People who are having trouble providing pet food for their dogs or cats during the recession can receive free temporary assistance from the Cincinnati Pet Food Pantry.
The pantry will conduct its December pet food distribution on Dec. 16. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and end at noon or when 150 pet owners have been helped, whichever comes first.
Distribution will occur at 5207 Madison Road, Suite B-100, located just off Interstate 71 at Red Bank Road, next to the Rainbow Car Wash.
Pet owners seeking assistance must bring proof of income at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level.
For a single-individual home, that's $21,780 or less annually; for a family of four, that's $44,700 or less annually. See the pantry's website for more details.
Since the pantry opened in March 2010, it has helped more than 3,400 families throughout Greater Cincinnati feed their pets.
The nonprofit pantry was founded by Recycled Doggies and the Pet Alliance.
