Pair appears in court for allegedly shooting at off-duty police officer

CINCINNATI - Two men appeared in court Wednesday morning after allegedly firing shots at an off-duty Cincinnati police officer Tuesday morning.

Police arrested 22-year-old Jihad Sanders and 23-year-old Frank Latham after the pair allegedly fired shots into a Roselawn residence early Tuesday morning and later fired a gun in the direction of the off-duty officer. Their bond was set at $300,000 each.

Police say Sanders and Latham fired shots into a house in Roselawn at about 2:30 a.m., but did not cause any injuries.

After the house shooting, an off-duty police officer saw a SUV with Sanders and Latham in it driving erratically in the 7000 block of Reading Road at about 3 a.m. When the officer followed the vehicle, the driver stopped and fired shots in the officer's direction in the 1600 block of Summit Road, police said.

The Sanders and Latham fired three shots toward the officer's vehicle — one bullet hit the grill of the vehicle, another hit the headlight and a third bullet missed the vehicle completely, according to a police statement.

The officer was not injured and although Sanders and Latham allegedly fled the scene, police arrested them later Tuesday.
