Police identify man killed in Sedamsville shooting

CINCINNATI - One person is dead and another injured after a shooting at a Sedamsville apartment complex Tuesday afternoon.

The shooting took place in the 900 block of Delhi Road around 12 p.m.

Police say 29-year-old Michael Hopkins died of gunshot wounds and another person, whose name was not released, was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities at the scene were not clear of the motives in the shooting. They were looking for multiple suspects in the incident. No arrests have been made at this time.

Following Tuesday's shooting, Sedamsville residents expressed concerns about the rise in violence in their neighborhood.

"If it's a gunshot or fire crackers, my babies know how to lay on the ground. They've grown accustomed to it. It's always over here," said Michera Taylor, a mother of three children.

Taylor said she hopes others will speak out and help police find those responsible for Hopkins' death.

"It's other people who live over here that won't speak out or say something, when they could be next."

Resident Bianca Grant says she's worried about her two young boys being exposed to violence.

"It don't matter where you live, it's how you live and that's what I'm trying to invest in my kids."

Police say the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.
