CINCINNATI - USDA officials and the Ohio Department of Education will be learning ways to eliminate student hunger at the Ohio Child Nutrition Summit Monday.
From 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Mayerson Academy Auditorium will host officials from Washington, D.C., food programs as they explain how they got 75 percent of students to receive free meals during the summer months.
The Ohio Child Nutrition Summit is focusing on eliminating hunger experienced by children after school, on weekends and during summer months.
Extending the reach of the afterschool meal program to more communities throughout the state will ensure that Ohio's children can participate fully in their afterschool activities, while also receiving the nutrition they need and may not have access to outside of school.
