HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Campus visits have been announced in the next couple of weeks for three finalists to become the next president of Northern Kentucky University.
The third candidate was announced Monday. He is Geoffrey S. Mearns, who has been provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Cleveland State University for the past two years.
Previously announced were Frostburg State University President Jonathan C. Gibralter and Ferris State University President David L. Eisler.
Presidential Search and Screening Committee Chair Martin Butler said "Our applicant pool was outstanding, and we are very excited to bring our finalists to campus."
The three are scheduled to make campus visits -- Gibralter on Wednesday and Thursday, Eisler the following week and Mearns the week after that. The school said each will meet with the university's regents, administrators, academic deans, faculty, staff and students as well as members of the business, government and general community.
The search committee is looking for a successor to James C. Votruba, who has been president since 1997. He announced last year he would retire this summer.
