MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A mother and her son are accused of stealing from unsuspecting shoppers at a Meijer store in Miami Township.
Officers said they arrested 49-year-old Emma Clark and 31-year-old Andrew Burton, both of Goshen, on Monday after investigating a purse theft complaint.
Investigators said Clark and Burton also matched the description of the suspects in a wallet theft that happened on Nov. 26 at a Kroger store on State Route 28.
Police eventually pieced together several theft complaints from multiple shoppers in the past two weeks.
The thefts included wallet snatchings and phone thefts from groceries, gas stations and other stores. Police said all the cases had several similarities.
Detectives said the cash and credit cards taken from the victims were used to purchase gift cards, gasoline and tobacco products. The purses and other items were strewn about various locations.
Clark is charged with four counts of felony theft and is being held at the Clermont County Jail on a $30,000 bond.
Burton is charged with two counts of complicity to felony theft and is being held on a $10,000 bond.
