CINCINNATI - A Colerain mother will spend time behind bars after she was accused of starving her children as punishment.
Judge Norbert Nadel sentenced Felicia Griffin to three years in prison when she appeared in court Thursday morning. Griffin was charged with one count of child endangering after officials found that she was reportedly rarely feeding her 12-year-old daughter.
Her daughter came in contact with police after Walmart employees caught the girl stealing pizza from the store.
Upon investigation, doctors found that the girl was malnourished. Since the girl was has been in foster care, she has gained about 30 pounds, according to officials.
During the sentencing, several witnesses testified that Griffin is a good mother to her 12- and 16-year-old children and that she always has a clean house with food in it.
Authorities have not released any additional details about the case at this time.
