Police: Man stole $4,700 from Indiana Ameristop

GREENDALE, Ind. – Authorities are searching for a man they say stole $4,700 from a Greendale, Indiana Ameristop Food Mart Monday.

Police say the man called the store at 440 Belleview Dr. pretending to be the owner. Authorities said he then asked an employee to put together a money deposit so his nephew could pick it up.

The employee who took the call told police the man sounded like the Ameristop owner and she did not know he was faking.

Police said the money was placed in deposit bags at about 9:49 p.m. The man arrived at the store shortly after pretending to be the owner’s nephew and picked up the money.

Greendale police ask anyone with information in this case to call 812-537-1321.
