CINCINNATI - Police are searching for the suspect who shot and killed an 18-year-old in East Price Hill Wednesday evening.
Police say 18-year-old Antonio Cornist died in a shooting that happened in the 3500 block on Glenway Avenue around 8 p.m. Neighbors say they heard gunshots and called police. Officers on the scene found Cornist lying on the ground near a blue Toyota Prius that was parked next to a house.
Cornist was taken to UC Hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He died shortly after arriving.
Cornist's death is the city's 19th homicide of the year. At this time last May, Cincinnati had recorded at least 28 homicides.
"I was sitting in the house. I heard what sounded like a gunshot, but I got young kids. Price Hill has been crazy lately, so I didn't come to the door until police and stuff were down there," said Deborah Huddleston, a neighbor who lives across the street.
Police say they are searching for a potential suspect who they say fled from the scene. He was seen running through backyards in the neighborhood shortly after the shooting.
So far, officers say they are getting help from the neighborhood with several individuals coming forward to tell them what they saw.
